It was initially established as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College and was meant to be a modern center of education for the Muslims of India. The college started with just three students, but by 1920 it had grown to more than 1,000 students. In 1920, the college was granted full university status and renamed Aligarh Muslim University. The university is now one of the premier educational institutions in India and has produced some of the country’s most respected leaders, scholars, scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals.

The university has a rich history of social reform and political activism. During its early years, it was at the forefront of several movements for Indian independence from British rule. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is ranked among the top universities in India. It is consistently ranked as one of the best universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The NIRF ranks AMU at 12th position overall and 6th among universities in 2020. The university has also been awarded an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This grade signifies that AMU provides quality education and has excellent infrastructure.

Apart from these rankings, AMU has achieved international recognition for its research, academics and other activities. The university is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and International Association of Universities (IAU). It was also selected as a member to the United Nations Academic Impact Program and recently became a partner of the Global Innovation Network. Admissions Requirements

Aligarh Muslim University is a public university located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the oldest universities in India and has been providing quality education since its inception in 1920. The university offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a variety of disciplines including science, engineering, social sciences, humanities, pharmacy, management and law. In order to apply for admission at Aligarh Muslim University, candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the university. These include having a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the relevant subject from a recognized board or institution. Additionally, applicants are also required to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the university every year. For admission into postgraduate courses, applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from any recognized university. Along with these academic qualifications, applicants are also required to submit documents such as original certificates and mark sheets from their previous institutions as well as two passport-sized photographs and valid proof of identity.
